Joint Statement on the Appointment of Dr. Brooke Barnett as Provost

Throughout her tenure as both the Dean of the College of Communication and the Interim-Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Brooke Barnett has proven to be a dedicated leader who, like SGA, is driven by the pursuit for a better student experience. From the start of this academic year, Dr. Brooke Barnett has been engaged with the student body and has taken strides to make meaningful change on campus. Dr. Brooke Barnett has provided the student body with renewed hope for the future of Butler University.

On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, a letter was sent from the Student Body President, Speaker of the Senate, and Academic Affairs Committee Chair to President Danko and the Provost Search Committee formally supporting Dr. Brooke Barnett’s candidacy for the role of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, if she chose to apply and pursue the position. This letter followed a unanimously-sponsored and unanimously-passed resolution from the Senate on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. 

We are delighted by President Danko’s decision to appoint Dr. Brooke Barnett as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Additionally, we thank the Provost Search Committee for their willingness to engage with the Student Government Association during the search process. 

Finally, we would like to formally congratulate Dr. Brooke Barnett on her appointment. We are thrilled that she will continue to serve in this capacity and we look forward to collaborating with Dr. Brooke Barnett and experiencing the impact that she has on the course of Butler University.
