SUSTAINABILITY BOARD

SUSTAINABILITY BOARD

SGA's Sustainability Board serves as a dedicated student group focused on promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable practices on Butler's campus. Our board advocates for initiatives that enhance eco-consciousness in student life, programming, and campus operations. The Sustainability Board also recognizes that environmental justice is an inherently intersectional social issue that requires equitable, diverse, and holistic approaches to these environmental conflicts, and we, as a board, are dedicated to upholding and modeling these values. We hope to educate the student body about the value of sustainability while encouraging the Butler community to engage in eco-friendly behaviors and practices. Through event planning, collaborations with on-campus administrative partners, and educational efforts, our board actively works to reduce the environmental impact of Butler University, engage our community, and spark long-term cultural prioritization of sustainability at Butler. Our mission is to enhance our community's commitment to environmental stewardship, make the campus a greener place to live and learn and empower the student body to be conscientious global citizens.

Some of the Sustainability Board's current initiatives are:

Developing a green events guide to ensure that programming and events on campus uphold and model the values and standards of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Working with administrative partners to significantly reduce Butler's carbon footprint, reduce campus waste, improve energy efficiency, and promote alternative lifestyles and practices to transform Butler University's culture into an environment which is dedicated to eco-consciousness now and for the future.

Finding innovative ways to involve the student body and elevate the voices of the community to move Butler toward a greener future in a way that will equitably benefit, satisfy, and excite the individuals who matter most at Butler University: the students.
