Mental Health and Well-being Focus Groups
A new opportunity to discuss mental health and ways to combat it has arisen on campus! Elijah Heslop has started mental health and well-being focus groups to create a determined setting where students of all backgrounds can be vulnerable in bringing up their concerns and issues.

Just this past month, a new mental health resource has established itself on campus. In an attempt to create a more dedicated space for students to talk openly about their well-being, mental health concerns, and any other issues affecting them, Elijah Heslop created the mental health and well-being focus groups.
In January, Heslop sent information out around campus to advertise the opportunity, and in February, the groups met for the first time. The information gathered during the first meeting has since been compiled and sent to multiple organizations around campus to be analyzed and discussed. BuBeWell, for example, will take the findings of the groups’ meetings and use them to improve other campus resources and ensure that Butler is addressing student needs as effectively as possible.
Heslop predicts that as more students show interest in meeting to discuss improving mental health on campus, more groups will gather and more information can be obtained to make Butler University a safe and inclusive campus, welcoming vulnerability and discussion.
Going forward, the groups will meet at a variety of times to accommodate everyone’s availability and food will be provided! If you want to join a group, please fill out this form (https://forms.gle/s7hggDq8warADo1v5) for more information, or contact Elijah Heslop via email or by visiting his office hours on Wednesdays from 10-12. If you are uncomfortable with meeting in a group setting, he also welcomes input and is happy to meet by setting up an appointment on Calendly https://calendly.com/eheslop/director-of-the-mental-health-well-being-board-meeting
