Junior Ryan Crnarich was recently appointed to be the Chief Justice of SGA’s Judicial Branch for the 2022-2023 academic year. Crnarich has been a justice since being sworn in spring 2021 and his role focused on Student Senate oversight. Crnarich talks about what Chief Justice means to him, how he got here and where he’d like to take the Judicial Branch.

Bulldogs for Universal Design, Butler’s New Accessibility Advocacy Group
A few weeks ago, the SGA Student Senate endorsed a new student group called Bulldogs for Universal Design, or BUD for short. The group’s goals are to advocate for disabled students through disability education, ability-based diversity, universal design and allyship. The group is already working to make exterior portions of campus, such as curb-cuts accessible to students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Executive Order 2122-008: Gender Affirmation Closet Fund Allocation
On March 31st, Executive Order 2122-008 was signed by Student Body President Will Gigerich. The Executive Order allocates funds to creating a Gender Affirmation Closet for transgender, nonbinary and gender nonconforming students to utilize.

Butler’s branch of Be the Voice has finally been able to host their annual suicide prevention and awareness walk the ways they used to before the pandemic. Students, faculty, staff and community members showed up in droves to show support and speak their truths.

SGA is Making Atherton Union Better Than Ever with a Refresh
Before spring break, SGA’s Student Senate selected furniture from KI Furniture for the upcoming Atherton Union refresh. At an event in the Reilly Room on March 23rd, students were able to view mock-ups, blueprints, carpet and paint swatches and various pieces of furniture to give feedback and opinions on what should be done to freshen up Atherton.
